Here is a sketch of some beautiful Roses i received on the weekend. :)

Thinking about websites and blogs at the moment, trying to suss out where to go my website is still broken and will cost me ongoing money to keep up, so looking to start again with new alternatives. Which is great but hard to find the time. I'll get there eventually :)

This one was just a quickie and was just pen on paper when i had a spare bit of time.
It's one of the most hectic weeks of the year this week, my oldest son turned 5 and i am throwing him a big party as well as a few other family things go on so its pretty full on. I have fallen a bit behind already on my goals for sketching but i think as soon as i get all the party preparations out of my hair I will be back on track.

Anyway, again just want to say this is so fun to do ! I am so glad i did it even if it was only a quickie.

Monet, Sketching, Sales - a catchup

Well I have been busy. :) arent we all ?

Let me start by talking about Monet. I had a wonderful day with a wonderful friend :) and to see Monet in real life was just amazing. The subtelty of colours, the vibrantcy of the colours, the brush strokes, the sizes, the physical presence of something so famous that was created so many years ago yet it being right there in front of you, it was just great.

The photos in books don't really do an artwork justice do they?

I am inspired as often i am when visiting great works and again it reminds myself that i need to get out and visit such exhibitions more. Standing at one end of the room studying the works and then walking to the other and seeing the strokes up close you trully understand why he was a master and why the others at the type were sceptical of him.

So, to cut it short, if your around Sydney i definately reccommend you make the visit. I will be going again before the exhibition closes in January, i mean how often will i get to see all those pieces again ?

Now onto me.

I have been doing a bit of sketching of late, nothing spectacular just forcing myself to get into the habit. Something I keep trying to do but never seem to stick to. Then when i do i wonder why i dont ... i think its necessary for me, it great. I just need to slot it into the long list of stuff i am already doing and make it a priority.

Nora Head Lighthouse - a night away

This weekend i was very fortunate to be invited along with a lovely bunch of ladies to NoraHead Lighthouse for a kid-free night.

I was invited by my very good friend Mandy who i have known since highschool and a bunch of her friends. The accomodation was in the Caretakers cottages (which feature in some of the photos below the link for the accomodation is here) which have been renovated. It was sooooo good just to have some time to myself and chill out and have a game of pictionary and good talk with some lovely ladies, not to mention a ginandtonic and a few glasses of red and lovely cheeses.

I managed to do this little sketch of the lighthouse tho i didnt do it plein-air like i should have .. i had to take a photo and then come inside and do the sketch from my camera as it was waaay to cold.

A week of sketches

A week of sketches. This week i have all numerous of things going on so i dont have much time or concentration span for anything. On top of all of this i have a cold as well as the kids so needless to say its been a week of sketches not for completed pieces but thats ok :)

The pear is neocolours i meant to go back to this and add coloured pencils on but it was too wet to do it that night and the next day i had moved onto something else. Ahh such is life atm :)
